THERE CAN ALWAYS BE NEW BEGINNINGS

Steven Ramseyer-Bieri is the love child between Malcolm Ramseyer and Alfred Bester. During Malcolm's time in the corps, despite being a stealth transgender man, was assigned to be a part of the Telepath breeding program. Malcolm expressed concern with this to his unoffical "friends with benefits" and partner Bester, and they had an agreement to concieve a child together instead of Malcolm being forcibly assigned with someone he didn't know.

This came with a price, as the Corps was experimenting with heightening telepathic abilities and struggled to succeed, unborn children becoming the next expierment. The Corps had created pills for expectant parents to take, functionally similar to anti-morning sickness pills that would assumably heighten the child's telepathic abilities and be born stronger. Bester had given these to Malcolm, and much to his surprise and relief, they did not cause him any harm. However, Bester would not be sure if the experiment was a success or not. Steven was born a high ranking telepath and he himself was not able to see where Steven would have ranked on the Psi Scale (P-12, without considering telekenesis). He was able to scan him while in the womb, yet this did not determine if this was due to Bester's tampering or not.

Steven was born in the Corps in the year 2263- a time when tensions were high and the Telepath War was emminent. Bester was present for the birth of his son and they co-raised Steven for the first two years of his life. Malcolm was a casualty in the war and died during the bombing of the Psi Corps headquarters in 2265. Steven along with Malcolm's protege, Aria Miller, survived the attacks and were able to escape. After the fall of the Psi-Corps, Steven was considered orphaned and was adopted by a family with several siblings that also lost their parents in the attack. Aria and Steven were free from the corps and she remained present in the rest of Steven's life, telling him of what she remembers of Malcolm, who Steven barely got to know, but has fairly vivid memories of due to being born an extremely powerful telepath.

AN AVERAGE FAMILY IN LYON

Steven's adoptive parents were ex-psi cops Linus Bieri and Vivienne Mueller- an unmarried couple who had fallen in love on the job and kept their relationship a secret. Upon the fall of the Corps, they fully realized how horrible the actions of the organization they were a part of was, and decided to start a family adopting some of the children who were orphaned by the war, as an effort to do some good though they cannot fix what had already fallen apart. This also included an older girl, age 5 at the time, Louisa, and a younger boy, only 6 months old at the time, Noel. Vivienne and Linus would later get married when the Corps disbanded, move to Lyon, France and raise the three kids as siblings.

Steven had a decent childhood, raised into a loving family who encouraged the children not to be ashamed of their "gifts" and to use them wisely, as they could be used for great evil. The ex-psi cops were very skilled in training them, using more humane methods and positive reinforcement unlike the Corps. They were all raised to be independent and strong. However, though he showed skills in telepathy as young as one year old, around puberty Steven started to experience symptoms unlike the Bieris have seen before. Servere headaches, bouts of paranoia, anger, and hallucinations- sometimes common with high ranking telepaths but not always. It was around this time that Steven would notice his ability to move small objects. A pen. A piece of paper. A coin. The Bieris were shocked to see a 'teek' in their own family- as they had been aware of the Corps' experiments and had yet to see a success that wasn't deeply disturbed. They encouraged Steven to keep his abilities as a teek more sacred than his abilities as a teep. As he grew up, and did more research, he was able to control his abilities decently. Steven may have been a strong telepath, but a fairly weak telekenetic. It was difficult-near impossible for him to move anything larger than a book.

SEARCHING BEYOND HERE

Steven was unaware of who his other biological father was for most of his life, as Aria did not know Malcolm's relationship with Bester. Malcolm had left behind jorunals to Steven of first hand accounts of what the Psi-Corps were like and how the war started. The journals had hints that Malcolm would explain the circumstances of his birth and who his father was when he got older (as the journals called him 'your father' and 'Alfred'), but was never able to. Steven, through finding old Psi-Corps records, was able to access information on Malcolm and Bester as an older teenager. This is how he found out Malcolm was transgender and that Bester was his father. In these records was also all of the information about Bester's involvement in the war, the corps, the experimentations on him, and beyond. Steven was horrified at what he found and saught to find Bester in jail and confront him. Steven visited Bester every week before he died in jail in 2281, asking about Malcolm, scanning him (to which Bester could not combat due to being on the sleepers), showing off his telekenesis and reminding him of those he hurt.

He fled earth when he turned 20 and decided to explore the cosmos, starting with Centauri Prime, as Malcolm had discussed in his journals. In search of anyone else who had any information, he met Ilushka Atraviani, a Centauri Telepath who had lost her twin brother Savelle during the destruction of their planet, and her husband Aurellio Parvori who was also a friend of Malcolm's. As Steven began to explain his situation, and make reference to Malcolm, they immediately remembered who he was talking about and were devistated upon hearing of Malcolm's death. The three became attached to each other as, aside from Aria, Ilushka and Aurellio are some of the only ones Steven met who knew Malcolm before his death. And as someone who lost her brother, Ilushka felt immediately familial to the young man. Ilushka and Aurellio would arrange space for Steven to stay at the royal palace on his time on Centauri Prime by consulting Emperor Cotto. Remembering that Emperor Cotto knew Malcolm as well, they brought Steven to talk to him, who had also remembered Malcolm and was saddened to hear of his passing. As for information about telekenetics, the only thing he knew was that Londo Mollari had a brief interaction with a being with telekenetic abilities as it stopped him from being attacked by Minister Vole back in 2262. Other than that, he explained that Steven was always welcome on the planet and in the palace and that he has the Emperor's blessing.
